  • Brown ground beef in a heavy saucepan, drain.
  • Add onion and garlic and cook until tender.

    I make this chili all the time, but I add more chili powder. 1 – 2 tablespoons to taste. And also thicken it with flour and water at the end.

    This was the chili Mom made when I was growing up. We have adapted it a bit and add brown sugar to it to make it a ‘sweet chili’. I serve it every year at my Super Bowl Party, and love to eat it with Frito Scoops! It gets rave reviews every year. My pro tip, if you have the time, is to make it at least a day before. When I go to re-heat and serve, it takes on a new color and flavor as all the spices do their magic.

  3. Great recipe I add a can of diced tomatoes with jalapeno and habanero peppers and a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes to make it spicey

    I love your recipe but would like to complain that is no longer on the can. It was always so easy to read the can at the store and pick up the ingredients.
